1. Lens Distance
To get the most out of your VR experience, it is important that your vision is clear. You can adjust the focus of your Meta Quest VR headset in 2 steps:
- Measure your pupil distance
- Adjust the lenses
1.1. Measure Your Pupil Distance
Before focusing the lenses, you can measure your pupil distance. You can do this yourself with a millimeter ruler and a mirror, or with the help of a friend.
- Stand in front of a mirror and hold the ruler above your eyes.
- Close one eye and align the end of the ruler with the pupil of your open eye.
- Keep the ruler in place and open your other eye.
- Mark on the ruler where your other pupil is located.
- Read the measurement in millimeters to determine your pupil distance.
1.2. Adjust the Lenses on Quest 2
You can move the lenses of the Meta Quest 2 closer together or farther apart.
There are 3 different settings. Depending on your pupil distance, you can choose one of the 3 options:
- Setting 1: Distance of 61 mm or less
- Setting 2: Between 61 mm and 66 mm
- Setting 3: 66 mm or more
If the image remains blurry after adjustment, slide the lenses slightly until the image becomes clear.
2. Adjust Volume
To adjust the volume, use the volume button on the underside of the headset. This can also be done through the settings menu when the headset is active.
For a more immersive experience, you can connect headphones via the audio jack. No additional settings are required—it works in plug-and-play mode.
3. Activate Passthrough Mode
You can activate the Passthrough mode on your headset by double-tapping the casing. This feature allows you to switch from VR to a real-world view instantly.
- Ensure the headset is powered on and securely in place.
- Tap the side of the headset casing twice in quick succession.
On the Quest 2, the Passthrough view is displayed in black and white, providing a clear but simplified view of your surroundings. To return to VR mode, simply double-tap the casing again.
