When do you need to use Unity?
If your 3D model does not meet the requirements for the glTF workflow it's our recommendation that you use our Unity workflow! If you want to get started right away, please find more information on how to start here: Unity Setup
When your 3D model does not meet the requirements for the glTF workflow.
This means the mesh has:
- No clean geometry
- A lot of separate objects
- Multiple materials
- More than 5 textures
You need to use more than 1 looping animation.
For example when you want:
- Multiple animations like walking, sleeping, attacking, eating, etc.
- Blendshapes & facial animations
You need complete control over how your scene looks.
With Unity, you can change and add these settings:
- Reflection probes
- Shaders and Materials
- Particle FX’s
